But for those of us who’s interest goes beyond the pot of gold continue reading. Arne Duncan released a statement yesterday, Friday the 21st of April, 2014, detailing the continued failure of equity in education. While this isn’t shocking to anyone who reads this blog, it is shocking to the nation. “What I thought we fixed schools in the 60’s by ending segregation?” I know it seems like many of us are scratching our heads and thinking “we’ve been saying this for years (me), and decades (some of you).
The take away from the data set is there are persistent, pervasive, and profound bias in the application of discipline and access to high quality education. Take a look at the data set, it is an amazing opportunity for a research project, there is state specific data.
